Just weeks after beating Alexandre Pantoja and successfully defending the flyweight belt (up to 56,7 kg) for the second time, Joshua Van already seems ready to return to the most famous octagon in the world. This Wednesday (30), the fighter went public through a post on his official X account (formerly Twitter) to provoke Manel Kape , the name most likely to occupy the position of challenger in the category.
Hinting that negotiations for the fight may be underway, Van made a point of mentioning Kape's past weight-cutting issues. Furthermore, he made it clear that he intends to deliver another great fight. He won Fight of the Night awards in his last two octagon bouts.

“Hey, you fat son of a bitch. Start cutting now because you better make weight! We don’t want another weight excuse. Let’s give the people what they want! #boobs,” the Burmese man shouted.

Veteran and former Rizin champion, Kape had a troubled start in the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC), but hasn't lost since July 2024. Since then, he has four consecutive victories, all by knockout. He holds the number one position in the division's rankings and is coming off a win against Kyoji Horiguchi in June of this year.

With only one professional loss, the man who defeated Alexandre Pantoja has had a meteoric rise in the organization, accepting several fights a year and surprising the community by defeating big names in the category, such as Brandon Royval and Tatsuro Taira . At only 24 years old, he is the only athlete born in the 2000s to wear an Ultimate belt. In all of history, only Jon Jones has achieved this feat at a younger age than the Burmese fighter.
