One of Brazil's most promising MMA fighters, Mauricio Ruffy fought the most important fight of his career at UFC 331, but the positive result did not come. At the event held last Saturday (19), in California (USA), the athlete was brutally knocked out by the favorite and feared Arman Tsarukyan in the first round. And, despite the tough setback, the athlete does not hide, nor does he show himself shaken.

On his official Instagram account, Ruffy made a point of speaking out after the defeat and showed his humility, as he made a point of apologizing to the fans. Even though he was the underdog in the matchup against the Armenian, many expected that 'One Shot' would be able to surprise in action. In fact, the Brazilian gave Tsarukyan a scare in the striking exchanges, but minutes later, he couldn't withstand his elbows.
Currently, Ruffy has two losses in the UFC, with his latest defeat preventing him from entering the top 5 of the lightweight division (up to 70,3 kg) and bringing him closer to a title shot. However, the Brazilian has no doubt that he is on the right track and, in his quest to reach the top, promises to be an even greater threat to the main names in the competitive category in his upcoming fights.
“I apologize to my fans for the sadness of the defeat. I know it's not easy to be a fan, but I'm learning. You saw the evolution of each fight and in this one I was very good. But I'm happy with everything that happened. It's difficult to deal with defeat, but it makes us grow and I know that God is taking care of me and I continue to rejoice in the Lord. I'm very eager, with blood in my eyes, to fight again,” said the athlete.
“I really want to step back there and give my best. I'm nailing it for you all. I don't know where I'll be tomorrow, if I'll have the belt or not, but I'll pursue it with all my strength. I'll work, give my best, and continue speaking of the love of Jesus, because Jesus completes me. I'm doing well now because Jesus completes me. Truly, thank you for your support. I'm very well, happy.”
“Now, I’m going to focus on improving, evolving, training much harder, and you can wait for me. I don’t want an easy fight. I want to fight the best in the world and show that I have the ability to beat the best in a very good way. I will dedicate myself to this, I will work very hard, and thank you very much for your support. May God bless you. Wait for me, you can expect me. I will come back stronger than ever for this game,” he concluded.
