Arman Tsarukyan believes he could have been less aggressive against Mauricio Ruffy, but preferred not to take risks. The Armenian delivered a cinematic knockout against the Brazilian by landing a series of elbows that ended the co-main event of UFC 331 , held last Saturday (19), still in the first round.
In a statement to journalist Adam Zubayraev, Tsarukyan explained that the second elbow strike was almost unnecessary, as he immediately realized that Luffy had fallen onto his shoulder after the first blow. Despite this, the Armenian stated that he decided to continue the attack because he wasn't sure if the Brazilian was completely unconscious and feared that he might recover if he interrupted the sequence.

“The second elbow strike was just for fun, man… As soon as I hit him, I was the first to realize he had fallen onto my shoulder. But what should I do? Stop? What if he had woken up?”, said Arman Tsarukyan.
With the defeat, Mauricio Ruffy suffered his third career loss, his second inside the UFC octagon. Arman Tsarukyan , on the other hand, achieved his 24th career victory and took another step towards his dream of fighting for the division's belt.
