Gilbert Burns has a plan to overcome Khamzat Chimaev at RAF. Defeated by the Chechen in the UFC octagon, the Brazilian will have the opportunity for a rematch in a wrestling match and, despite recognizing his rival's superiority in that area, intends to exploit his cardio and stamina to wear him down throughout the fight and seek victory.

In an interview with MMA Junkie, Durinho acknowledged that Chimaev is a more experienced wrestler and also highlighted the size difference between the two. On the other hand, the Brazilian believes he can have an advantage in aspects such as heart and physical conditioning.

“He’s competed a lot more times than I have. He’s a bigger guy, but in terms of heart and cardio, I think I can be ahead of him. That’s my goal: to frustrate him, get my good entries, get him really tired. That’s my goal. To get him really tired, look at him and say, ‘I know what you’re feeling. Let’s go’,” said Gilbert Durinho.

The Jiu-Jitsu black belt also revealed that he intends to use Chimaev's fatigue to his advantage during the fight. Durinho believes he has identified a weakness the Chechen fighter has when the pace of the fight increases and intends to put him in that situation to assess how he will react to exhaustion.

“When I think about our fight and the fight against Strickland, I see that he hates getting tired. That’s what I think. My goal is to try to put him in that situation and see how he reacts,” concluded the Brazilian.
