If Islam Makhachev spoke from one side, now it's Jon Jones' turn to respond from the other. Having voluntarily retired from fighting since 2024, when he knocked out Stipe Miocic in New York (USA), the greatest and best MMA fighter in history was not at all pleased to learn of the Russian icon's view of his career and intensified the rivalry with the feared Dagestan clan.

It all started when Makhachev acknowledged the American as one of the best athletes in history, but stated that his long winning streak shouldn't be validated because he had failed doping tests more than once for using banned substances. Therefore, the Russian defends the idea that the fairest thing would have been to start a new count for Jones. Now, 'Bones' has gone on the offensive and raised his voice.
On his official 'X' account, Jones, always attentive when mentioned, denied using banned substances to enhance his combat performance and made a point of reminding everyone that the Russian tested positive for doping in 2016. It's worth noting that USADA suspended Makhachev's punishment after investigating the case and concluding that he was not at fault.
Not satisfied, 'Bones' made a point of boasting, highlighting his achievements in MMA and that Islam had already tasted the bitter taste of defeat in the UFC. Self-assured, Jones once again rubbed his GOAT status in the Russian's face, and even Daniel Cormier , his eternal rival, wasn't spared.
“Let’s start the week by debunking the rumors that have been spread by people who are harassing me. 1 – If you believe USADA when they say they found a picogram in my system, then you should also believe them when they say that 'it hasn’t been found to improve performance or be intentional'. You can’t have it both ways at the same time.”
2 – Last time I checked, my hand was raised every time I was in the octagon, as any of you can remember. 3 – Your own coach said I was 'A gift from God'. 4 – Let's not forget that you were knocked out, passed out, and slept through the night.”
“5 – DC, I kicked your head (laughs), keep telling yourself it was the steroids. Whatever you need to tell yourselves to sleep better at night, do it. Keep chasing, it’s lonely at the top. Makhachev, I hope to see you up here someday.”
