In an interview with Laerte Viana, Valter Walker revealed that he has trained with Evgeniy Goncharov, Malhadinho's opponent. The heavyweight recounted his training with the Russian and highlighted the difficulty he encountered in taking the fighter down.
“Either Malhadinho is much better than me or I’m really bad. Because when I train with these guys, I go for takedowns and it feels like I’m hitting a concrete wall. In three rounds, I only managed to take him down once, I got his back, but I couldn’t finish. I went for the submission just like Malhadinho, I didn’t try to escape with my feet, but the guy has no neck. His trapezius muscles are already glued to my shoulder,” said Valter.
