Paulo Borrachinha is upset with the UFC's delay in creating an interim light heavyweight title (up to 93 kg). Champion Carlos Ulberg remains injured with no return date to the octagon, a situation that is hindering the division and directly affecting the category's top names, including the Brazilian.
In an interview with Ariel Helwani, Borrachinha described the UFC's decision not to contest the interim title as a disaster. According to the fighter from Minas Gerais, the organization needs to take action regarding the uncertainty surrounding the champion.
"For some reason, they still don't want to put the interim light heavyweight belt on the line. I think that's a disaster," said Paulo Borrachinha.

Borrachinha also expressed concern about Ulberg's long period of inactivity. The Brazilian stated that there is no guarantee that the New Zealander will be fit to fight in 2027 and even considered the possibility of his return only happening in 2028, reinforcing the need for the UFC to create an interim light heavyweight title.
"We're not even sure if Carlos Ulberg will be able to fight in 2027, maybe 2028, so they need to put the interim light heavyweight title on the line," concluded the Brazilian.
Paulo Borrachinha could compete for the UFC belt.
