Paulo Borrachinha is experiencing a comeback in the UFC. After losses to Whittaker and Strickland, the Brazilian defeated Roman Kopylov at UFC 318 by unanimous decision, showing a return to his aggressive style.
Paulo Borrachinha can't wait to be free from the UFC. Considered a contender for the light heavyweight title (up to 93 kg), the Brazilian, it seems, is not satisfied with the direction his career is taking in the world's largest MMA organization. Despite his desire to leave the company, the fighter still has one fight remaining on his contract.
In an interview with Ariel Helwani, Borrachinha revealed that he has repeatedly asked to be released by the UFC, but his requests have been denied by the organization. According to the Brazilian, the most recent request was made a few days ago, but the company made it clear that he will need to fulfill his last contractual commitment before leaving the Ultimate Fighting Championship.

“We’ve already asked to be released, but they said, ‘We’re not going to release you. You need to have at least one more fight.’ In fact, I’ve asked to leave the UFC several times. The most recent was a few days ago,” said Paulo Borrachinha.

Eddie Hearn, a well-known promoter in the boxing world, and Dana White have exchanged numerous barbs through the media, mainly regarding the payment of UFC athletes. After years at the top of MMA, the bald promoter fulfilled a long-held dream of expanding into the boxing market with Zuffa Boxing. In contrast, Hearn has signed UFC fighters. Besides Borrachinha, he also manages Tom Aspinall and Ian Garry.
