Originally scheduled to face Yair Rodriguez at Noche UFC , Jean Silva had to deal with the sudden change of opponent after the Mexican revealed he had suffered an injury. Willing to remain on the card, the Lord agreed to face José Miguel Delgado on the same date. However, anyone who thinks the Brazilian was financially compensated by the Ultimate after the situation is mistaken. The fighter himself spoke about the matter in an interview with the organization's YouTube channel last Tuesday (8).
Jean revealed that Delgado's name came up immediately after Rodriguez's withdrawal, with no other options available. Furthermore, he made it clear that he received no salary compensation for accepting to fight a competitor far behind him in the division's rankings.

“There was no renewal or a ‘Oh, we’re going to pay more or there’s going to be a bonus.’ There was none of that. The only thing that’s really clear is that I’m next in line to fight for the title. I think there’s no secret about that. If you stop to look, there’s no one ahead of me. So for me, that’s enough,” the fighter stated.
