Ian Machado Garry has already defined the path he intends to follow to return to the fight for the UFC welterweight title (up to 77,1 kg). After being defeated by Islam Makhachev in August, the Irishman is aiming for a high-level fight as his next step and believes that a victory would be enough to put him back on the path to the title.
In a statement to ' DAZN Boxing', Garry revealed who he considers the ideal opponent for his return to the octagon. In the fighter's view, defeating this rival would be enough to put him back as the main contender for a title shot, even after having just faced Makhachev.

“For me, there’s only one fight that makes sense right now, and that’s against Michael Morales . When I beat him, I’ll be the only one who deserves a title shot, even though Islam and I just fought,” said Ian Machado Garry.
The statement shows that the Irishman doesn't intend to take a long road back to get another title shot. The Chute Boxe fighter is betting on a direct confrontation with one of the division's top rising stars to reclaim his title contender spot.
