Josh Hokit is not happy about the possibility of Alex Poatan facing Ciryl Gane again . The American questioned the Brazilian's choice and stated that the two-time champion should secure a victory in the heavyweight division (up to 120,2 kg) before considering another title fight in that category.
On his profile on X (formerly Twitter), this Monday (7), Hokit criticized the idea of a rematch and recalled Poatan's defeat to Gane. For 'Falastrão', the Paulista should seek a more favorable confrontation and suggested a knockout artist as a possible opponent.

“As a fan, this fight makes absolutely no sense. I saw you get massacred. How about a more favorable matchup, like against Sergei, who is basically a striker and much less athletic than Ciryl? How about you get a win in this weight class before getting another title shot?” wrote Josh Hokit.
Poatan intends to remain in the heavyweight division and is seeking another opportunity against Gane. The Brazilian, who won the middleweight (up to 83,9 kg) belts, moved up and became champion of the light heavyweight (up to 93 kg), later left the category to seek new challenges and now aims for a new chapter in his career in the division.

Alex Poatan 's first experience in the heavyweight division took place at UFC Casa Branca on June 14, 2026. On that occasion, the Brazilian faced Ciryl Gane for the interim title in the category, but ended up being defeated by technical knockout in the second round, after a series of blows from the Frenchman.
Despite the negative result, Poatan showed confidence in adapting to the new weight and reinforced that the goal of winning a third title remains alive. Before moving up to heavyweight, the Brazilian built a historic career in the UFC, quickly winning the middleweight (up to 83,9 kg) and light heavyweight titles, in addition to starring in great rivalries against names like Israel Adesanya and Jiri Prochazka.
