Alex Poatan 's ranking in the UFC has become a point of contention for Paulo Borrachinha . The former light heavyweight champion (up to 93 kg) recently moved up to heavyweight (up to 120,2 kg), but still appears among the top names in both divisions. This position caught the attention of his compatriot, who pointed out a supposed inconsistency in the way the Brazilian has been listed by the organization.

Borrachinha also questioned the fact that Poatan occupies fourth place among heavyweights even without having won a victory in the division . In a publication by Canal Punch on Instagram, available last Sunday (6), the provocation did not go unnoticed by the former champion, who responded in the comments to the statement and left open the possibility of seeking a different challenge for the continuation of his career.

Alex Poatan 's first experience in the heavyweight division took place at UFC Casa Branca on June 14, 2026. On that occasion, the Brazilian faced Ciryl Gane for the interim title in the category, but ended up being defeated by technical knockout in the second round, after a series of blows from the Frenchman.

Despite the negative result, Poatan showed confidence in adapting to the new weight and reinforced that the goal of winning a third title remains alive. Before moving up to heavyweight, the Brazilian built a historic career in the UFC, quickly winning the middleweight (up to 83,9 kg) and light heavyweight titles, in addition to starring in great rivalries against names like Israel Adesanya and Jiri Prochazka.
