In March, in Las Vegas (USA), Caio Borralho recovered from his first UFC defeat, against Nassourdine Imavov , by winning against Reinier de Ridder by unanimous decision and now plans his return to the octagon for November or December. But, before knowing his next opponent, the Brazilian is looking not only to win, but also to understand a different battle: against the haters.

In an interview with the channel 'Laerte Viana na área', Borralho confessed that he has been suffering constant attacks on social media and expressed his surprise at learning of the antipathy many have towards him. The curious thing is that the Brazilian is a consolidated top contender in the middleweight division (up to 83,9 kg) and his results prove this status; he is an intelligent athlete who knows how to express himself and doesn't usually offend his opponents. Even so, 'The Natural' emphasizes that he doesn't have the approval of many and questions why he has been negatively marked.

“I’ve been following social media a lot lately. It doesn’t really affect me, but I’ve noticed how much hate I get in Brazil. I have a lot of people who support me and campaign for me and everything. I know that, I feel that, but I can’t understand what I did to deserve the hate. If you see every comment, I understand that too,” said the athlete.

“Pablo explained it to me, and I already understood a bit of it, taking a rational approach. Pablo even said, 'Caio, the truth is that I think people have a lot of expectations of you, of your potential, of what you can do. And when their expectations aren't met, like winning by decision, they end up letting that frustration out.'”

“I understand that. It’s part of the game and all that. Not that I care much about the stoppages, but I also know that I need to knock out and submit. It’s something I can’t lie to myself about. I need that. If I want to earn more money, get to the belt faster, obviously I have to knock out and submit more. I know that, nobody needs to tell me.”

“It’s something I hold myself accountable for, because I also know my potential. I know that if I put the right hand on the ball, the guy will fall. What have I said about someone, about Brazil, that kind of burned me, what have I done? Honestly, I don’t know. I don’t even have 10% of that hate outside of Brazil. I think the environment shapes everything. So this cultural thing and all that, it makes a lot of sense,” he concluded.
