MMA prospect Gabriel Lourenço showed all his ferocity on Contender Series. In the fourth episode of the tenth season of the program, held this Tuesday (1st), in Las Vegas (USA), the 26-year-old Brazilian brutally knocked out Charlie Cleveland in the first round. Because of the performance, Dana White, impressed, rewarded the fighter with a contract with the UFC.

Despite his impressive first-round victory, 'Black Mamba' went through some dangerous moments. Right at the start of the fight, Gabriel and Cleveland went all out on the attack, exchanging powerful blows. The aggression was so intense that the fighters came close to a knockout. Determined to end the fight quickly, the Brazilian continued to pressure his opponent and surprised him with a flurry of punches.

At first, Gabriel missed the first two punches, but the third, a cross, landed squarely on the American's chin, causing him to fall. Cleveland then grabbed his opponent's leg, who showed no mercy. Gabriel delivered an elbow strike to his opponent's head, causing him to fall again, and followed up with a flurry of punches, knocking his mouthguard out.

However, many pointed out that Gabriel's attacks were illegal, as they could have hit the American in the back of the neck. With Cleveland defenseless, the referee stopped the fight, but the Brazilian was so relentless that he landed extra punches. Despite the controversial end to the fight, 'Black Mamba' is yet another Brazilian signed by the UFC and will join the heavyweight division (up to 120,2 kg).
