Dan Hooker surprised fans by accepting to face debutant Saladine Parnasse in the main event of UFC Paris , scheduled for next Saturday (5). Currently ranked tenth in the lightweight division (up to 70 kg) and accustomed to sharing the octagon with big names in the sport, the New Zealander explained that there is a financial reason behind the decision: the fight represents the biggest payout of his career.

In an interview with the program 'RMC Sport Combat', Hooker stated that he is willing to continue facing less experienced fighters as long as he receives such high amounts of money. The New Zealander highlighted that, for the amount offered for the duel with Parnasse, he would even accept facing an opponent of the caliber of Francis Ngannou.

"If they pay me that much money to fight rookies, then I'll fight rookies until the day I die. I would fight Francis Ngannou for the amount of money they're paying," said Dan Hooker.

The veteran also confirmed that the purse for the fight against the newcomer will be the largest he has ever received in his professional career.
