Glover Teixeira bets on a lightning-fast knockout by Alex Poatan against his rival in the UFC

After the victory last Saturday (29), Glover Teixeira spoke again about the partnership with Alex Poatan and the next steps of the UFC double champion in the heavyweight category (up to 120,2 kg). The Brazilian revealed that he would like to see his pupil facing a specific name before a possible journey towards the belt.

In an interview with Laerte Viana's YouTube channel, available this Tuesday (1st), Glover was asked about what would be the best paths for Poatan within the division. The former light heavyweight champion (up to 93 kg) stated that he would like to see the Brazilian facing an opponent who, in his view, would not have the tools to avoid a knockout.

“I personally wanted Josh Hokit , because that guy is talking nonsense. I believe Poatan will knock him out in the first round. The guy doesn't have the game for Poatan. He's a guy I said, 'let's get this guy, let's knock him out'. Knock him out for me, Poatan, let's move on to another fight and we'll go for the belt,” said Glover Teixeira.

In the former champion's view, a confrontation against the 'Blow-Out Loud' of the heavyweight division could serve as another test for Alex Poatan before a possible title fight. Glover believes that the former champion's knockout power would be a decisive factor in the duel and is betting on a quick victory.

Alex Poatan 's first experience in the heavyweight division took place at UFC Casa Branca on June 14, 2026. On that occasion, the Brazilian faced Ciryl Gane for the interim title in the category, but ended up being defeated by technical knockout in the second round, after a series of blows from the Frenchman.

Despite the negative result, Poatan showed confidence in adapting to the new weight and reinforced that the goal of winning a third title remains alive. Before moving up to heavyweight, the Brazilian built a historic career in the UFC, quickly winning the middleweight (up to 83,9 kg) and light heavyweight titles, in addition to starring in great rivalries against names like Israel Adesanya and Jiri Prochazka.
