Umar Nurmagomedov suffered a tough defeat at UFC Shanghai , held last Saturday (29). However, for Belal Muhammad , the worst may still be to come. With strong ties to the Dagestan clan, the former welterweight champion (up to 77 kg) predicts a wave of criticism and attacks against the Russian after the setback, something he considers unfair given the fighter's reserved and humble profile.
In a post on 'X', Belal Muhammad lamented the possibility of Umar becoming the target of even harsher criticism after the defeat. In the former champion's view, the Russian is one of the most discreet and humble athletes in MMA and, therefore, does not deserve to be attacked while going through a difficult time in his career.

“What I hate most about this result is knowing that people will attack Umar and try to take him down even more when he’s already on the ground. He is genuinely one of the quietest and most humble fighters you will ever meet,” said Belal Muhammad.
The Palestinian representative also sought to boost Umar's morale by reminding him that MMA is marked by moments of extreme glory and periods of great difficulty. According to Belal, the Dagestani fighter must keep his head held high and work to return to the octagon even stronger.
“Keep your head up, brother. This sport has its highs and its lows. You’ll be back,” concluded the former champion.
With the defeat, Umar Nurmagomedov suffered his second loss in 22 career fights, the first by knockout.
