Held in the early hours of Friday (28), the official weigh-in for UFC Shanghai had problems. Of the 26 fighters scheduled for the event, three failed to make weight, two of them being Brazilians: André Mascote , Júlia Polastri and Xiong Jingnan. In fact, the first was fined. Meanwhile, Umar Nurmagomedov and Song Yadong showed professionalism at the ceremony and confirmed the most important fight of the event, valid for the bantamweight division (up to 61,2 kg).

In his last fight, Mascote lost his undefeated record, and now he has disappointed even before stepping into the octagon. Competing in the flyweight division (up to 56,7 kg), the Brazilian weighed in at 57,6 kg to face newcomer Namsrai Batbayar. Fortunately for him, the fight was not canceled and will be held at a catchweight. However, André was fined 20% of his purse, which will go directly to his opponent. It's worth remembering that this wasn't the first time the Bahia native has failed to make weight in the UFC.

Also on the preliminary card, something curious happened. Julia Polastri and Xiong Jingnan were scheduled to fight at strawweight (up to 52,2 kg), but both failed to make weight. The Brazilian weighed in at 53,7 kg, while Xiong Jingnan weighed 53 kg. Therefore, neither fighter was fined, and the bout will proceed at UFC Shanghai , but at a catchweight.
Main fight
As expected, Umar Nurmagomedov and Song Yadong , aware of the importance of the fight, did not disappoint. The top bantamweights (up to 61,2 kg) headlined the event with their eyes on a possible title shot. The favorite, Khabib Nurmagomedov 's cousin , weighed in at 61,4 kg. The hometown fighter appeared slightly heavier, at 61,6 kg.
