Jiri Prochazka Chooses Date and Opponent for Return to the UFC Octagon

Jiri Prochazka is looking for a new challenge in the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC). Defeated by Carlos Ulberg in the main event of UFC 327, the Czech fighter was knocked out after becoming careless when he noticed his opponent's injury. Now, the Samurai wants to return to the octagon against an opponent who can put him back on the path to a title shot in the light heavyweight division (up to 93 kg).

In an interview with 'Nova Sport', Prochazka revealed that he intends to return to the UFC between October and December, but considers November or December the most realistic options. The former champion highlighted that he needs at least two months of preparation to carry out a proper training camp.

“I definitely want to fight in October, November, or December. October, however, is starting to seem unrealistic. I need a great training camp and at least two months of preparation, so realistically, November or December are the options,” said Jiri Prochazka.

Furthermore, the Czech fighter made it clear that he is not interested in facing just any opponent. Prochazka is targeting a member of the division's top 5 and is looking for a high-level matchup capable of bringing him closer to another title shot and, consequently, an opportunity to reclaim the light heavyweight belt.

“Above all, I want to face someone in the top 5, a quality opponent who is close to fighting for the belt. I want someone on the other side of the octagon who makes me think: 'Yes, this is a challenge'. At the same time, I want an opponent who really brings me closer to a title fight and to becoming champion again,” concluded the Czech Samurai.

Jiri Prochazka could challenge for the UFC interim title.

In the main event of UFC 327, Carlos Ulberg defeated Jiri Prochazka and won the light heavyweight title. However, the New Zealander suffered an ACL tear during the fight. After undergoing surgery, the champion still has no return date, which led Dana White to give the green light for the creation of an interim title in the division.
