Having not fought since October, when he faced Ciryl Gane in Abu Dhabi (UAE), Tom Aspinall decided to speak out after seeing his name involved in a controversy. Back in training after suffering a serious eye injury caused by the Frenchman during the fight and undergoing surgery, the heavyweight champion (up to 120,2 kg), who has no new fight scheduled in the UFC, opened up about his future.
All because, recently, a rumor indicating the departure of the Englishman from the UFC gained strength on social media and began to be treated as truth by fans and even by specialized channels on 'YouTube'. Therefore, an outraged Aspinall, through an official statement released last Wednesday (26), made it clear that he remains in the biggest MMA organization in the world.

According to the rumor, Aspinall, who publicly argued with Dana White and is now managed by Eddie Hearn, a rival of White, would leave the UFC in search of a more lucrative salary, thus vacating the title and paving the way for a rematch between Alex Poatan and Ciryl Gane . In closing this rumor, the Englishman hinted that his next fight may be announced soon.
“ I’m not leaving the UFC . I never said that in any interview, and any statement attributed to other people is simply not true . We are in daily contact with the UFC. They will keep you updated,” the champion wrote on his official Instagram account.
Aspinall's last fight
The highly anticipated fight between Tom Aspinall and Ciryl Gane ended in a 'no contest'. In the first round, the UFC heavyweight champion received a double eye poke and gave up the fight because he couldn't see. After the fight, the Englishman was diagnosed with bilateral traumatic Brown's syndrome, a condition that restricts eye movement. The injury was so severe that the athlete underwent surgery on both eyes.
