MMA legend Glover Teixeira is once again in the spotlight. At 46 years old, the former UFC light heavyweight champion (up to 93 kg) is preparing to face Mauricio Shogun at Spaten Fight Night 3 and took the opportunity to talk about his partnership with Alex Poatan and his compatriot's ambitious plans in MMA.
In an interview with Demetrious Johnson 's YouTube channel , released this Wednesday (26), Glover revealed that Poatan's dream of winning a third belt is still alive. The double champion was defeated by Ciryl Gane at UFC Casa Branca , but, according to the Brazilian, the defeat was not enough to make him abandon his goal of reaching the top of a third category.

“It’s a goal. He wants the third belt. He had a goal, he lost it, and he’s going to try to climb the ladder again and reach the top. I’m rooting for him. As long as he trains well and stays healthy, he doesn’t need to do anything else. He can already buy all the ‘toys,’ but he wants to do this,” said Glover Teixeira.
The relationship between the two Brazilians goes far beyond training. The fighter was one of the key figures in Poatan's preparation during his UFC career and closely follows his compatriot's quest for a historic achievement: becoming the organization's champion in a third division.

Glover Teixeira has not competed professionally in MMA since January 2023, when he was defeated by Jamahal Hill in a title fight. Since then, the Brazilian has remained involved in combat sports, but has not returned to professional competition.
Now, the former champion will face a special challenge in boxing. Glover will face Mauricio Shogun at Spaten Fight Night 3. Shogun also made his mark in the UFC, winning the belt in 2010 when he defeated Lyoto Machida by knockout. The duel pits two veterans against each other who have built historic careers and who will now have the opportunity to star in another great chapter in combat sports.
