Undefeated Ronald Humphrey secured his UFC contract on the Contender Series last Tuesday (25), after delivering a spectacular first-round submission (VIDEO BELOW) . The welterweight prospect (up to 77,1 kg) immediately caught the eye of Dana White.

UFC President Dana White didn't hide his excitement about Humphrey's performance and revealed that he had already spoken with the fighter backstage. In a press conference after the third episode of the Contender Series, Dana White shared details of his conversation with the fighter and stated that he made it clear to him that he intends to accelerate the athlete's next step.

“I saw him backstage. I said, ‘Listen, I want to put you back in the octagon as soon as you’re ready for it.’ He replied, ‘Tell Sean (Shelby) to call me,’” Dana White revealed.

Now, the undefeated fighter, with five professional fights, will have the mission of proving that he is prepared to face higher-level opponents in the welterweight division.

With Dana White's approval and the contract in hand, Ronald Humphrey should soon be aiming for his official UFC debut. It remains to be seen who will be the first opponent chosen by the organization to test the division's new prospect.
