Gregory Robocop reveals dramatic behind-the-scenes story before UFC Sacramento victory: 'They tried to make me give up'

Gregory Robocop had to overcome a real war to defeat Anthony Hernandez at UFC Sacramento, held last Saturday (22). However, the Brazilian's difficulties began even before entering the octagon. After having his arm raised at the end of five rounds against the American, the fighter revealed on social media that he faced a series of physical problems during the preparation for the fight.

In an Instagram post, Gregory Robocop highlighted that a fighter's greatest battles don't always happen inside the octagon. The Brazilian emphasized that preparing for a fight can be even more difficult and stated that, despite the obstacles, he enjoys the challenge and sees his MMA career as part of his development as an athlete.

“Not every fight happens inside the octagon. Many of them happen during the preparation for a fight. If you ask me, 'Gregory, do you like to fight?' Absolutely. I love to fight. God has spent my whole life shaping me to be a warrior. But the hardest part for us athletes is the preparation before the fight,” said Robocop.

Three weeks before the fight, Robocop suffered a toe injury during a sparring session and had to be taken to the hospital. In addition, the Brazilian reported that he faced back problems, infections, an illness, and a weakened immune system. According to him, the accumulated pressure during that period also brought thoughts that could have made him give up the fight.

“Three weeks before the fight, I dislocated my toe during a sparring session and ended up in the hospital. My back seized up, I had several outbreaks of infection, I got sick, my immune system weakened, I felt pressure coming from all directions, and many thoughts tried to make me give up,” the Brazilian continued.

"This is the fighter's life I chose. And even knowing the price, I would choose it all again!", concluded Gregory Robocop.

With his victory over Anthony Hernandez , Gregory took a big leap in his career and moved into seventh place in the middleweight rankings (up to 83,9 kg). After the fight, the Brazilian used his position to challenge former champion Dricus Du Plessis.
