Umar Nurmagomedov , it seems, is not only after the UFC belt. The Dagestani prospect lost his undefeated record to Merab Dvalishvili and, since then, has fueled an even more intense rivalry with the Georgian. After becoming upset with statements directed at his people, Umar made it clear that he intends to face the former champion again, regardless of whether or not he holds the title.
In an interview with Mike Bohn, Umar Nurmagomedov stated that Merab should be his next opponent, regardless of the outcome of his next match. The Dagestani emphasized that the rivalry has ceased to be merely a sporting matter and has taken on a personal character, also involving the pride of the people of Dagestan.

“I think I’ll fight Merab next, whether he wins or loses. Now it’s personal. Not just for me, it’s personal for all of Dagestan,” said Umar Nurmagomedov.

Before thinking about settling scores with Merab Dvalishvili , Umar Nurmagomedov has a more urgent commitment ahead. The Russian faces Song Yadong in the main fight of UFC Shanghai , scheduled for next Saturday (29).
