Gilbert Burns has hung up his MMA gloves , but he may be close to taking on a new commitment in the UFC. After suffering his fourth consecutive defeat in the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) at UFC Winnipeg, the Jiu-Jitsu black belt announced his retirement from mixed martial arts. Despite this, the Brazilian remains active in grappling and, after achieving his first UFC BJJ victory in June 2026, indicated that he may return to the discipline soon.
In a post on X, Gilbert Burns indicated that he intends to return to the mats for a new grappling challenge. In the message, the Brazilian also tagged the official UFC BJJ profile, increasing expectations for a possible new participation in the organization.

Gilbert Burns , 39, was successful in Jiu-Jitsu and is a legend in MMA. The Brazilian began his career in the sport in 2012, debuted in the UFC in 2014, and retired in 2026. At his peak, he competed for the welterweight title (up to 77 kg).
In this sport, Durinho built a record of 22 wins and ten losses. His main victories were over Demian Maia , Jorge Masvidal , Neil Magny , Stephen Thompson , and Tyron Woodley.
