Sixth-ranked in the featherweight division (up to 65,8 kg), Jean Silva saw his schedule completely changed for Noche UFC . Originally, the Brazilian was to face Yair Rodriguez in the main event scheduled for September 12th in Arizona (USA), but an injury prevented him from competing, leading José Delgado to take over the fight. And this change was difficult to deal with, according to 'Lord'.

On his official YouTube channel, Jean, always candid, admitted that he had a serious problem in his training camp when he switched from Yair to his new opponent. In this case, the difficulty wasn't related to the fact that the Mexican is popular and a long-time member of the top 5 in the division, while Delgado is a mere 'unknown' to many. But, despite the setback and initial suffering with the situation, the Brazilian reassured his fans, guaranteeing that the situation is now normalized and that his best version will be seen in action.
"To be honest, it impacts and has impacted the mission a lot. That's the big reality. It has had a significant impact. But afterwards, analyzing all the facts, all the occurrences that came about through this change of opponent, especially after the first two training sessions, as soon as the opponent changed, I'll say that it messed things up quite a bit," he said.
“We went to the first training session and I felt a difficulty. I saw that what I was training was totally the opposite. We didn't realize it at the time. It was after the second training session that we stopped, reviewed, and said, 'Just do it the other way around.' And the two are very similar, they play the same way. But there's a detail that I think people haven't been able to perceive yet about Delgado and Yair. That said, in the first training session I had a lot of difficulty understanding the game, because it had been three months, almost four, practicing the same things for the fight against Yair.”
“In the second fight, it became a little clearer, and in the third, we did the opposite and said, 'Wow, how come?'. Then we watched the fights, gathered some data, and discovered that it really was the opposite, that we were right. But, to be clear, it did change things, it significantly impacted the fight itself. Changing it greatly affected the training camp,” he concluded.

Currently, Jean Silva , 29, is ranked sixth in the UFC featherweight division and is seen by many as a threat to the legendary Alexander Volkanovski , the king of the category. In his most recent fight, in January, the Brazilian defeated Arnold Allen by unanimous decision.
For the world's largest MMA organization, the athlete won six fights, five by stoppage (four by knockout and one by submission), and lost one. His main victories were over Arnold Allen , Bryce Mitchell , and Drew Dober.
