Despite having shared the octagon not long ago, the rivalry between Justin Gaethje and Paddy Pimblett doesn't seem to be that big. In fact, it could be said that the American's last performance in the biggest MMA event on the planet helped to win the affection (and gratitude) of the Briton. In a video published by Malvado on YouTube this Thursday (20), it was possible to see the two fighters having a curious interaction, to say the least.

The two met backstage at UFC 330 , held last Saturday (15). When greeting each other with a hug, Pimblett took the opportunity to show all his satisfaction that Gaethje had beaten Ilia Topuria at the White House, in June of this year.

Despite entering the octagon as a heavy underdog according to most betting houses worldwide, the American silenced his critics not only by winning, but also by inflicting serious damage to the face of the Georgian/Spanish fighter, who was undefeated as a professional. With the victory, Destaque became the oldest lightweight champion (up to 70,3 kg) in Ultimate history.

Ironically, Gaethje's surprising victory against Topuria came about because the American had defeated Pimblett himself, with the interim title at stake. This necessitated a unification bout with "The Matador" in the White House gardens. On that occasion, the two engaged in an intense five-round duel, in which "The Star" emerged victorious by unanimous decision.
