Namo Fazil continues to make headlines after his participation in the Contender Series. And, according to the athlete from Kurdistan, there was a serious reason for the adverse result.
On his social media, Fazil claimed that he was ambushed by a large group of Chechens before facing the Brazilian in the Contender Series and that he was assaulted. It is worth noting that the fighter, considered by bookmakers to be the favorite to win the fight, threatened Kaik and lashed out at professionals from Russia, focusing his attacks on Baisangur Susurkaev and Islam Dulatov.

“My coaches were holding me back, saying, ‘Namo, you’re not going to fight.’ They were stopping me because I wanted to fight. I told them, ‘Be a man. Let me fight first, then we can settle this.’ He kept saying, ‘Let’s fight now.’ I replied, ‘No, I have a fight. Wait.’ My coaches showed up, and when the commotion started, they got scared and ran away.”
“The police arrived, there was shouting and a commotion in the hotel lobby. In the end, this isn't a Van Damme movie. There were 15 people. If they really wanted to, they could have done much worse things to me. Clearly, they had some objective. People want to know what happened. Maybe nobody knows the truth.”
“As a man, it’s extremely difficult to be attacked like this and just stand there saying nothing. But I no longer belong only to myself. I didn’t want to come out publicly afterwards to make excuses, saying, ‘This happened, that happened.’ But I believe this needs to be said so that people understand why I wasn’t at my best,” he concluded.
