Josh Hokit disagrees with Islam Makhachev's number 1 pound-for-pound ranking and with Charles Oliveira as the UFC's BMF champion. Undefeated in the UFC, the outspoken American targeted Alex Poatan and suggested a fight against the Brazilian to settle these issues within the world's largest MMA organization.
In a post on X, Hokit criticized the fighting style of Makhachev and the current BMF champion, accusing both of prioritizing ground control instead of dealing damage to their opponents. The American also stated that he would prefer to face Ciryl Gane for the title or Poatan for the BMF belt.

"Either give me Ciryl for the title or Alex for the BMF. I'm tired of seeing these crotch sniffers who just cling to legs and still call them BMF/P4P," wrote Josh Hokit.
Hokit also guaranteed that, regardless of who his next opponent is, he intends to deliver a fight marked by violence and spectacle to the fans.
"You can't have these titles and just keep holding guys down without causing harm. Whoever I face, the fans will get pure violence and a real spectacle," the loudmouth concluded.

Rivalry between Alex Poatan and Josh Hokit
Although they have yet to share the octagon, Alex Poatan and Josh Hokit are already fueling one of the most talked-about rivalries in the UFC today. After the Brazilian announced his move up to heavyweight (up to 120,2 kg), the American stated that a potential fight would be easy, claiming that the former champion had never faced an opponent of similar caliber.
Josh Hokit 's provocations weren't limited to the sporting aspect and also extended to the personal realm. During the press conference promoting UFC Casa Branca , the fighter criticized the Brazilian for not communicating in English and even made a provocative reference to Poatan's catchphrase "Chama" (Flame). He also insulted Alex's mother on more than one occasion.
