An unexpected tension arose in the MMA world this week. Shortly after Islam Makhachev 's victory in the main event of UFC 330 , the welterweight champion (up to 77,1 kg) exchanged barbs with Max Holloway on social media. When questioning why the Russian was posing with two belts after his victory against Ian Garry , the Hawaiian was met with a jab via a comment on Instagram.
Despite being a champion in two weight classes, Makhachev currently only holds the 77 kg belt, with Justin Gaethje reigning as the lightweight champion (up to 70,3 kg). Upon bringing this up, Holloway was attacked on social media by the fighter himself, who mocked him and said he was unaware of being a two-division champion.

In the video, published last Tuesday (18), the former featherweight champion (up to 65,7 kg) took to the haters and sent a message to Makhachev while showing off his belts. In addition to having reigned in his original division, Holloway also captured interim and BMF titles. He is also one of the few fighters to have used both the old and current designs of the Ultimate belts.
“This guy needs to do his homework… Never come at me, man. Especially when you’re hiding behind another guy on Instagram. You’re messing with the wrong guy. You must have forgotten. Half of you don’t know shit about MMA,” he stated.
