Former UFC fighter Markus Maluko has been detained in the US for over a month after being arrested by ICE.

Markus Maluko has been detained in the United States for over a month after being arrested by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE). The wrestler was detained on July 15 while visiting family in Salt Lake City, Utah, and has been awaiting the outcome of his immigration process ever since.

According to a post on the Instagram profile 'MMA Hoje', the former UFC fighter has already been through different detention centers and remains in custody in California while the immigration process continues and his defense team works on the case.

There is still no decision on when Markus will be released from detention or what the outcome of his trial will be. While awaiting further developments, Markus Maluko's official Instagram profile has started an online fundraiser with a goal of US$25 (approximately R$135) to raise funds and help with expenses related to the trial.

Markus Maluko's history in MMA

With 14 wins and six losses in his career, Markus Maluko has gained prominence for his lethality inside the octagon. Approximately 79% of his victories were achieved by stoppage, with eight by submission and three by knockout.

Although he drew attention for his Joker-inspired face paint during UFC weigh-ins, the fighter failed to establish himself in the organization. In the Ultimate Fighting Championship, he accumulated five losses and only two wins in seven appearances.
