Jon Jones slams Daniel Cormier after controversy over GOAT list: 'Envy'

Jon Jones and Daniel Cormier definitely don't get along. After DC left his old rival aside when defining his personal list of the best fighters in the history of the sport, Bones went public to show his dissatisfaction with the statements made by the Ultimate commentator. He spoke about the matter in a comment on Instagram last Tuesday (18).

Cormier, who chose Khabib Nurmagomedov as the best MMA fighter of all time in an interview with ALF Global, used the Russian's undefeated record as an argument to place him above Jones. The Eagle, a personal friend of DC, reigned in the lightweight category (up to 70,3 kg) between 2018 and 2021.

“ Jon Jones , as good as he is, has a loss. Why? He made a mistake. Khabib has never made a mistake… he’s never been disqualified, never been submitted, hasn’t made mistakes… I don’t know why more people don’t share this opinion. Georges St-Pierre has two or three losses. Demetrious Johnson , one of the greatest, has losses. (Khabib) has never lost,” he stated.

Upon reviewing the opinions of his rival, with whom he shared the octagon on two occasions, Bones defined Cormier as envious. According to him, the arguments stem from personal anger and not from a cold, technical analysis of the athlete's legacy inside the octagon.
