Carlos Prates has no doubt that he would beat Michael Morales in a potential UFC fight. After Islam Makhachev defeated Ian Machado Garry at UFC 330 , fans and experts began debating who should be the next challenger for the welterweight title (up to 77 kg).
Among the possibilities, the idea arose of putting the Brazilian and the Ecuadorian face to face to define the next candidate for the title, a scenario for which the Fighting Nerds smoker already has a fairly confident prediction.

In an interview with Ariel Helwani, Carlos Prates downplayed the possibility of Michael Morales having an advantage due to being physically stronger. The Brazilian stated that he believes he has a clear superiority in stand-up fighting and also questioned the wrestler label attributed to the Ecuadorian, highlighting that he has never seen him attempt a takedown during his fights.
“People think Morales can fight better than me just because he’s stronger. But in striking, I would kill Morales. Ground fighting? I don’t know. Everyone calls this guy a wrestler, but I’ve never seen him attempt a takedown,” said Carlos Prates.

The Brazilian has already stated that the organization has signaled the possibility of putting him in a title fight, while the champion himself has shown enthusiasm for the idea of facing the smoker.
