Islam Makhachev continues his unstoppable run in MMA. In the main event of UFC 330 , held last Saturday (15) in Philadelphia (USA), the Russian, welterweight champion (up to 77,1 kg), defeated Ian Machado Garry by unanimous decision. Confirming his status as favorite against a high-level opponent, Khabib Nurmagomedov 's friend remained prominent in the rankings of the company's best fighters in the weekly 'Meta UFC Rankings' update, released last Monday (17).

Before defending his welterweight title for the first time and breaking Anderson Silva 's record for the longest winning streak in UFC history, Makhachev was already ranked number one in the pound-for-pound rankings. Now, the Russian has justified his number one status, extending his lead in the list that brings together the organization's top performers across all weight classes. Therefore, champions Alexander Volkanovski , Justin Gaethje , and Petr Yan will need to do the impossible to dethrone the legendary fighter.
