Carlos Prates has already chosen his next target. After cheering for Ian Machado Garry 's victory at UFC 330 , the Brazilian took advantage of his former rival's defeat to Islam Makhachev to target the welterweight champion (up to 77,1 kg). The Russian defended the belt for the first time in the category last Saturday (15), in Philadelphia (USA), and now appears on the 'Nightmare's' radar.
In a video posted to the Instagram story 'Crash MMA' last Sunday (16), Prates reinforced his desire to face Makhachev. The Fighting Nerds athlete promises to break a historic record for Brazil.

"I'm going to finish you off, I'm going to take this belt back to Brazil, and I'll be the first Brazilian fighter to win the UFC welterweight title," said Carlos Prates.
Prates, for his part, comes from a positive streak in the organization and appears as one of the Brazilian names seeking a place at the top of the category. After UFC 330 , the São Paulo native made it clear that he doesn't intend to wait long to compete for the belt.
