Islam Makhachev announces return date after UFC 330 victory: 'I don't have time'

Islam Makhachev is in a hurry to defend his belt again. The Russian defeated Ian Machado Garry in the main event of UFC 330 , held last Saturday (15), and, in addition to retaining the welterweight title (up to 77 kg), achieved his 17th consecutive victory in the UFC, surpassing the record that belonged to Anderson Silva . Despite the magnitude of his achievements, the Dagestani already has a date in mind for his next challenge.

In a press conference after UFC 330 , Makhachev stated that he intends to return to the octagon before the start of Ramadan (in February) and indicated January as the ideal time for his next title defense.

The champion also emphasized that, at 34 years old, he does not intend to slow down his career. According to Makhachev, he does not face significant physical problems and does not need to undergo a very aggressive weight cut, factors that would facilitate a quick return to the octagon.

“Brother, we have to fight before Ramadan, 100%. January, end of 2026 we have to fight. I’m 34 years old, I don’t have that much time left, I have to fight as soon as possible. I’m not cutting much weight, I don’t have any serious injuries. That’s it,” said Islam Makhachev.
