Carlos Prates is determined to challenge Islam Makhachev in the welterweight division (up to 77,1 kg). In the main event of UFC 330 , held this Saturday (15) in Philadelphia (USA), the Russian, champion of the category, confirmed his favoritism and defeated Ian Machado Garry by unanimous decision. Present at the 'Xfinity Mobile Arena', the Brazilian, ranked first, has already started promoting the possible fight.

During the fight, Prates didn't seem impressed with Makhachev's performance. In fact, the Brazilian provoked the champion by yawning. Not satisfied, after the Russian's victory was announced, the athlete, riding a three-fight winning streak, exuded confidence in his victory and made the popular gesture of cutting his opponent's throat.

And it didn't stop there. Aware that he is in a great position in the welterweight division, Prates declared himself the next challenger for the MMA legend's belt, ignoring the competition from Michael Morales . And, being a natural knockout artist, the Brazilian promised that he will end the reign of the feared Makhachev who, in addition to being the welterweight champion, also holds the record for the longest winning streak in UFC history (17).

"I'm not going to die without knowing what it's like to be a champion. I'm going to beat this guy," said the fighter.
