Video: Islam Makhachev gets angry and tells Ian Garry to shut up at the UFC 330 press conference: 'Nobody likes him'

Before and during his fights, Islam Makhachev always showed calmness, but Ian Machado Garry managed to get under his skin. At the press conference to promote UFC 330 , held last Thursday (13), in Philadelphia (USA), the Russian, welterweight champion (up to 77,1 kg) and who could make history at the event , did not hide his irritation when interacting with his opponent, one of the most confident and vocal he has faced.

At the ceremony, the Irishman was constantly booed, and Makhachev agreed with the public's reaction. Not satisfied, the champion stated that it's difficult for anyone to root for Garry, largely due to his behavior inside and outside the octagon.

And the Russian's stance is not surprising. During the fight's promotion, the MMA legend pointed out that his rival puts himself in a difficult position with certain statements and even advised him to stop giving interviews.

“No, I’m not surprised (by the booing for Garry). I knew it. Nobody likes Garry and neither do I. People are confused about which country you represent: Brazil or Ireland? People don’t know. People know who they should be rooting for. Thank you for all your support,” said Makhachev.

But the provocation didn't stop there and turned into a brief argument. When questioned about continuing the legacy created by the late Abdulmanap Nurmagomedov, Khabib Nurmagomedov 's father and coach, and about what he thought of his career, Makhachev was interrupted by Garry. Interestingly, the Irishman praised the champion. However, the Russian didn't want a friendly relationship with his opponent and raised his voice.

Ian Machado Garry : "He would be proud of him. Look what he has accomplished."

Makhachev: “I’m still beating all my opponents, I’m a great champion and that’s the next goal. I’ll do my job and after this 20-fight winning streak, we’ll see what Dana says too.”

Garry: “Can I answer that? He would be proud of him. Look what he’s done in sports. He carried his country’s flag.”

Makhachev: “Brother, you're losing fans every second. Please shut up.”

Garry: "It's impossible for anyone not to be proud of what this man has done."

Makhachev: "Please shut up."

Garry: "He's the best fighter on the planet."
