Islam Makhachev returns to the octagon at UFC 330 , scheduled for this Saturday (15), to face Ian Garry in the main event. Before putting the welterweight belt (up to 77 kg) on ​​the line for the first time, however, the Dagestani needs to make weight at the official weigh-in, which takes place this Friday (14).

Coming off a dominant victory over Jack Della Maddalena , Makhachev will have the opportunity to break Anderson Silva 's record and establish the longest winning streak in UFC history. Additionally, Brazilian Mackenzie Dern will defend her strawweight (up to 52,3 kg) title for the first time against challenger Giulia Robertson in the co-main event.

How does the UFC weigh-in work?

The official UFC weigh-in always takes place the morning before the event, usually between 9 am and 11 am local time. At this weigh-in, all athletes scheduled for the card must step on the scale and make weight for their respective categories, with validation by a member of the athletic commission.

The requirement is strict:

• In title fights , the athlete must respect the exact weight limit of the category;

• In non-title fights , there is a tolerance of up to 1 pound (approximately 450 grams) above the limit;

• If the athlete is ahead, they have up to two hours to try to make up the difference;

• If you fail to make weight, you may be fined (up to 30% of your purse), lose bonuses , and even have your fight canceled.
