After years of suffering, Prichard Colón finally rested. The boxer, who suffered a brain injury after receiving illegal blows to the back of the neck, died this Thursday (13), at the age of 33. The boxer's father announced the tragic news through social media.
The cause of Prichard's death was not revealed. The boxer died 11 years after suffering a brain hemorrhage during a fight against Terrel Williams. After receiving a series of illegal punches, Colón was immediately taken to the hospital and underwent emergency surgery. From then on, the fighter's life was never the same.

Prichard was in a coma for over 200 days. The boxer woke up, but unfortunately, the aftereffects were so severe that he remained in a vegetative state. The sad episode became so famous that Colón became the prime example of how dangerous blows to the back of the head can be during fights. The attacks are illegal, but they still happen frequently in combat sports.
"Good morning everyone. I regret to inform you of the passing of my son Prichard. He has departed this earthly world and is now in a better place. I did everything possible to fulfill his wish and dream of spending his holidays in Puerto Rico, as he so desired, but it was not possible. Thank you for so many years of love and prayers. Please continue to include us in your prayers whenever you can," wrote Prichard Colón's father.

Prichard Colon was a prominent boxer until his career was interrupted. The pugilist began his journey in the noble art in 2013 and fought his last fight in 2015. In the sport, the Puerto Rican built a record of 16 wins, 13 by knockout, and one loss.
