José Montanha had a dream start in the UFC. The heavyweight (up to 120,2 kg) finished Louie Sutherland with a rear-naked choke in the first round, last Saturday (8), at UFC Vegas 120 , and is already looking ahead to the next challenges within the organization.
In an exclusive interview with SUPER LUTAS , Montanha revealed when he plans to return to the octagon. Without injuries since his debut, the Brazilian wants to take advantage of his good form to maintain his activity and prove himself to the organization.

“I would like to return in November, I don’t want to let too much time pass. Since I wasn’t injured, I’m in good shape, and since I’m just arriving, I need to prove myself. I prefer not to challenge anyone. But there’s already a guy out there challenging me, who I know likes controversy, Valter Walker . I’d go toe-to-toe with him without hesitation. However, I like him, he knows how to chart his own course, and that’s why I didn’t challenge him,” stated José Montanha.
Montanha's approach is similar to that adopted by Valter, who has also been building his path in the heavyweight division without showing any rush to face the category's top names. Montanha has four consecutive MMA wins and prefers to accumulate experience before targeting ranked opponents.
The fighter also made it clear that he intends to let his results in the octagon speak for themselves before adopting a more aggressive stance in the pursuit of big fights. His first objective is to consolidate his place in the organization and secure the renewal of his contract.
"We'll keep fighting, and after I secure my contract and its renewal, then I'll position myself as someone who needs to be noticed," said the Brazilian.
With a dominant debut and a new fight on the horizon, Montanha now seeks to continue his winning streak and begin building his name among the UFC heavyweights.

With his victory last Saturday, Montanha reached seven wins and one loss in professional MMA. The heavyweight has five submissions and two knockouts, while his only loss came by unanimous decision. The Brazilian also achieved a streak of four consecutive wins.
