Dana White points out what Islam Makhachev needs to be considered the greatest of all time to become the UFC fighter.

Dana White avoided placing Islam Makhachev among the greatest fighters in UFC history even before his next title defense. The organization's president prefers to wait for the next chapters of the Russian's career before evaluating his place in the sport's historical landscape.

In a press conference after the start of the new Contender Series season, last Tuesday (11), Dana commented on the possibility of Makhachev surpassing the event's record for consecutive wins. The welterweight champion (up to 77,1 kg) faces Ian Garry at UFC 330 , this Saturday (15), in Philadelphia.

“I don’t think about those things until the fight happens. I mean, let’s see how he does on Saturday and how things unfold. But obviously, to break the record for consecutive wins, you have to keep grinding and fighting, stay focused and keep knocking everyone out. Then, when he decides to stop, we’ll see where he fits into the overall picture, but he’s on the right track,” revealed Dana White.

Makhachev comes into the fight riding a string of impressive results and seeks to extend his legacy in the organization. After dominating the lightweight division (up to 70,3 kg), the Russian moved up to welterweight and won the category title.

Now, facing Garry, the champion will have another opportunity to solidify his position among the top names in the sport today. Another victory could also bring him closer to historic UFC milestones and further strengthen his candidacy among the greatest of all time.

At 34 years old, Makhachev is one of the top names in the UFC and currently the organization's welterweight champion. The Russian has a professional record of 28 wins and one loss, with five wins by knockout and 13 by submission, numbers that highlight his dominance in grappling and his evolution in striking.

Former lightweight champion Islam Makhachev has built one of the most dominant careers in the event's recent history. He boasts victories over names like Charles Oliveira , Dustin Poirier , Alexander Volkanovski , and Renato Moicano , and maintains a long winning streak in the organization – 16 consecutive victories.
