Jean Silva is scheduled to face Yair Rodriguez at Noche UFC on September 12th, but he hasn't abandoned the idea of challenging Alexander Volkanovski for the featherweight title (up to 65,7 kg) . In the Brazilian's view, the fight against the Mexican should pave the way for Movsar Evloev to challenge the Australian for the title, although he still dreams of the possibility of replacing the Russian in the title fight.
In a video posted on his YouTube channel, Jean Silva stated that he considers Evloev the leading candidate to face Volkanovski, but believes that a possible departure of the Russian could open an opportunity for him to take the position.
“With the announcement of me fighting Yair Rodriguez , Evloev will probably fight for the belt, there’s no one else. But there’s a big risk he’ll pull out of the fight and they’ll put me in his place, the hopes haven’t died down,” said Jean Silva.

This will be Jean Silva 's second appearance at Noche UFC , an event celebrating Mexican independence. In his previous appearance, in September 2025, the fighter faced Diego Lopes in a fight surrounded by controversy and provocations, but ended up being defeated by knockout in the second round.
On the other side, Yair Rodriguez will have the support of the local crowd, but will face the challenge of returning after a long period of inactivity. The Mexican hasn't fought in over a year, since his bout against Patrício Pitbull at UFC 314 , held in April 2024.
The fight promises an explosive clash of striking styles. Jean Silva adopts an aggressive, high-volume stance, averaging 4,82 significant strikes landed per minute with 51% accuracy. Rodriguez, on the other hand, stands out for his fluid movement and unpredictable long-range kicks, landing 4,65 significant strikes per minute, in addition to having a five-centimeter reach advantage.
