Tom Aspinall doesn't sit on the fence and declares himself the favorite at UFC 330: 'Tough fight'

With the start of UFC 330 week , several personalities from around the world have shared their opinions regarding the main event, valid for the welterweight belt (up to 77,1 kg). Nine months after dominating Jack Della Maddalena and becoming champion in two categories, Islam Makhachev tries to defend the crown for the first time against Ian Garry . And although it is a huge challenge for both, Tom Aspinall has no problem pointing out the favorite. He spoke about the subject in a video published on his YouTube channel this Monday (10).

Despite acknowledging that the Russian has disadvantages in the matchup, mainly due to his age, the Briton admitted he couldn't help but see him as the favorite. The UFC's top-ranked pound-for-pound fighter, Makhachev hasn't lost since 2015, when he was brutally knocked out by Brazilian Adriano Martins in the first round.

“ Islam Makhachev is getting a little older now, but he’s still at his peak. It’s a tough fight for both guys, but I can’t think of any point where Islam will lose,” he stated.

Next Saturday (15) could mark Makhachev's trajectory in the sport. In case of another victory, the Russian would leave Anderson Silva behind and stand alone as the fighter with the record for consecutive wins in the biggest MMA organization on the planet. Since the defeat against Martins, he has overcome 16 opponents in a row, including victories against Charles do Bronx , Alexander Volkanovski and Dustin Poirier , in addition to belts in two categories.
