Gigi Canuto left with heavy marks in her UFC octagon debut. The Brazilian faced Carol Foro in the opening fight of UFC Vegas 120 , held last Saturday (8), and, despite coming close to victory, ended up being punished by her rival and defeated by the judges' decision.
Through her Instagram stories, the 23-year-old athlete posted a picture of herself in a hospital bed while receiving medical attention. In the photo, Gigi shows the marks of the battle and leaves an optimistic message for her fans, highlighting the short preparation time for the fight.

The first round was fought entirely standing up. Despite being a grappling specialist, Gigi Canuto managed to keep the fight even against Carol Foro , but ended up being rocked in the final stretch, which gave the advantage to the athlete from Pará.
In the second round, Canuto came back stronger and managed to impose her game. The Brazilian took her opponent down and dominated the action for almost five minutes, coming close to finishing the fight by locking in an armbar.
In the third and final round, Gigi attempted to repeat her takedown strategy, but Carol Foro defended well and kept the fight standing. Visibly more tired, Canuto still exchanged blows, but couldn't keep up with her opponent's pace and ended up losing by unanimous decision, with three 29-27 scores from the judges.
