Steven Asplund has barely recovered in the UFC and already has in mind the next fight he would like to compete in. At UFC Vegas 120 , an event held this Saturday (8), the American had to overcome himself and defeated Brazilian Guilherme Pat by unanimous decision in the heavyweight division (up to 120,2 kg). Now, the former obese fighter is targeting an old acquaintance of Alex Poatan , who suffered at his hands.
In the post-event press conference, Asplund made no secret of his challenge to Jamahal Hill , whom the Brazilian knocked out in the first round in 2024. Since the former light heavyweight champion is moving up to heavyweight, the fighter expressed interest in welcoming him. Furthermore, 'Sweet Dreams' has been worrying fans by appearing visibly overweight.

Therefore, Asplund, who also struggles with his weight, took the opportunity to taunt him and mock his current physical condition. It's true that 'Concrete' is still a UFC newcomer with two wins and one loss. Nevertheless, the fighter exudes confidence that he has what it takes to impress Hill, who is experiencing the worst moment of his career, with three consecutive defeats.
“I know this is coming from a big-name fat guy and that I don’t look like a fighter, but everyone’s going to have a tough challenge ahead of me. I want Hill . He’s a fat kid who just arrived and it’s a nice victory to add to my collection. It’s funny, because I was talking trash at UFC PI, saying I wanted to challenge him, and not even two minutes later, he comes in. Maybe I should shut up. Come on, show me something,” he said.
“I know he probably doesn’t respect me. I could tell by the way he was looking at me, but I’m going to keep improving and proving it to everyone who doesn’t believe in me. So, let’s go. No disrespect intended, but we have to be realistic. In the light heavyweight division, he looked like me (fat) in my fight against Petrino . I think this division will be more comfortable for him. He doesn’t need to cut weight. I’m talking about someone who was a champion, and I know I might sound disrespectful, but that’s not my intention.”
“I’m trying to show everyone that I’m willing to have tough fights. I don’t know what they think of Hill, but I want what the UFC wants, and I think he would be a very fun and exciting fight. Let’s talk some trash, have some fun. Honestly, I think I’d knock him out in the second round . I think it would be a fun fight, and I like to talk trash to the big guys. Whatever the UFC wants is what I want. Give me a fun fight. I don’t care,” he concluded.
