José Montanha made a winning debut in the world's largest MMA organization. The Brazilian finished Louie Sutherland in the first round, this Saturday (8), at UFC Vegas 120 , and achieved his first victory in the octagon. In a fight valid for the heavyweight division (up to 120,2 kg), the athlete reached his fifth victory by submission in his career.

Louie Sutherland started by trying to feint and find his range to work the striking game, but José Montanha quickly sought the grappling game. The Brazilian defended his opponent's first attempt, but it didn't take long for him to take Sutherland down. On top, Montanha imposed his physique, connected with strong ground and pound strikes, and advanced to his opponent's back. He then locked in a rear-naked choke, forcing his rival to tap out in the first round.

Known for his physical strength and offensive style, the Brazilian accumulated significant victories on the national scene before receiving the opportunity in the world's largest MMA organization. With the triumph over Sutherland, he reached his seventh victory by stoppage, while his only career loss had been by decision.
