After shocking the world by announcing the merger of MVP with PFL, Jake Paul remains interested in expanding in the MMA market. Behind the scenes of the last event promoted by the Professional Fighter League, the YouTuber and businessman drew attention by interacting with Khabib Nurmagomedov and trying to convince him to return to competition. The video was released on Most Valuable Promotions' social media last Tuesday (4).

Khabib, who was in the corner for another title defense by his cousin Usman Nurmagomedov , was greeted by Paul and asked about his opinions regarding the merger between the two companies. After hearing from the former fighter that he liked the news, Jake went to the negotiating side.

“With what we’re doing, this merger with MVP, we’re changing MMA forever and giving fighters better places to live. If you fought with us, it would change the sport in a colossal way forever. It’s about change,” Paul stated, generating a funny expression on the Russian’s face.

Former UFC lightweight champion (up to 70,3 kg), Khabib decided to retire in October 2020, shortly after submitting Justin Gaehtje with a triangle choke in the second round and defending his title for the third time, at the time one of the records in the category. At only 32 years old at the time, the reason for hanging up his gloves was not due to an injury or health problem, but rather for ethical reasons.

His father and coach, Abdulmanap Nurmagomedov, was one of the fatal victims of Covid-19. Deeply shaken by the loss, the Eagle promised his mother that he would abandon his career and dedicate himself solely to training the next generation of athletes, which he has been doing ever since, serving as a mentor to names of the caliber of Islam Makhachev and Usman Nurmagomedov.
