Established among the top names in the UFC lightweight division (up to 70,3 kg), Arman Tsarukyan already has a well-defined opinion when it comes to the debate about the greatest fighter of all time. The Armenian revealed which athletes, in his view, built the most remarkable legacies in the history of MMA.

In an interview with the profile 'Yavuz Saynomo', on Instagram, published this Monday (3), Tsarukyan was asked about who he considers his Top-5 of all time and answered without hesitation. The fighter cited only former champions who dominated their respective categories and left their names marked in the organization.

Jon Jones , Georges St-Pierre, Demetrious Johnson , Anderson Silva and Khabib Nurmagomedov ,” said Arman Tsarukyan.

This selection brings together some of the most dominant champions in the history of the sport. Jon Jones made his mark in the light heavyweight division (up to 93 kg) and also won the heavyweight title (up to 120,2 kg). Georges St-Pierre was a champion in two weight classes, while Demetrious Johnson established one of the longest reigns in the flyweight division (up to 56,7 kg).

Anderson Silva ushered in an era of dominance in the middleweight division (up to 83,9kg), and Khabib Nurmagomedov ended his career undefeated, solidifying a legacy that continues to influence the new generation of fighters.

Khabib's presence on the list is noteworthy given the context surrounding Tsarukyan. Despite having faced Islam Makhachev , the Armenian set aside any sporting rivalry to acknowledge the former champion's importance in MMA history.

According to journalist Leo Guimarães, Charles Oliveira will have a rematch against Tsarukyan at UFC 331, scheduled for September 19th. The fight will be contested over five rounds, but there will be no title on the line. The fight marks a reunion between the two after their first duel in 2024, when the Armenian won by split decision. Now, both are seeking a victory that could put them in contention for the top spot in the lightweight division.
