TUF champion wins at UFC 194 and appeals for victims of dam collapse

Warlley Alves beat Colby Covington on the preliminary card; Léo Santos also won, but Márcio Lyoto was defeated

Three representatives from The Ultimate Fighter Brazil marked Brazilian participation in the preliminary card of UFC 194, but only the champions of the reality show managed to win and cheered the Brazilian fans present at the MGM Grand Garden Arena, in Las Vegas (USA). One of the victors of the night, Warlley alves, took advantage of the moment and made an appeal in favor of the victims of the collapse of the Samarco mining company's dams in Mariana (MG).

TUF Brasil 3 champion, Warlley remained unbeatable in MMA with yet another guillotine submission victory. And, contrary to what one might imagine, since his opponent Colby covington he was also undefeated as a professional, he was calm and came in the first few minutes.

Warlley opened the fight with a very powerful kick to the body, which left Covington damaged. The Brazilian quickly tried his first guillotine in the fight, but the blow wasn't perfectly placed. On the second opportunity, however, Warlley, who won two of his three Ultimate victories via choke, didn't waste the chance and took the victory just over a minute into the fight.

Asked by commentator Joe Rogan about his performance, Warlley, born in the city of Governador Valadares (MG), one of those affected by the contamination of the Rio Doce, asked for permission and made an appeal to the Brazilian public to help the victims of the disaster. “It’s my dream to be here. I dreamed of being here since I was a kid. I'm very happy, but I wanted to say that my city is going through a difficult period and for everyone to join the Instagram because we are going to do a draw to help the city, because we are Brazilians and we help each other”, said the fighter.

Now, Warlley has expanded his professional record to eleven wins in eleven fights.

Léo Santos surprises and knocks out

Champion of the second season of TUF Brazil, the veteran Leo Santos is one of the great jiu-jitsu specialists and, for this very reason, he left the North American Kevin Lee worried about his ground game. However, the Nova União athlete used all his experience in the art of martial art to feint his striking, surprise Lee and win by knockout.

The fight started with a lot of study on both sides, but Léo quickly tried to show his credentials in grappling when he noticed a moment of distraction from Lee, who opened his arms calling the Brazilian to fight. Soon after, however, it was boxing that made the difference and Santos landed a straight shot that shook Lee. The TUF champion even connected a few more punches before referee Big John McCarthy interrupted.

TUF runner-up loses the third and gets complicated

Márcio Lyoto, runner-up of TUF Brasil 3, opened the UFC 194 preliminary card against Court mcgee fighting for his job, as he had two consecutive setbacks. However, the Brazilian was defeated again and found himself in a delicate situation in the organization.

In the first round, Márcio Lyoto managed to control the distance well, but ended up being surprised with a spinning blow. However, at the end of the end, the Brazilian landed a tight guillotine choke, which did not end the fight, but secured the advantage in the first end.

In the second half, however, the Brazilian's pace dropped and McGee managed to bring the fight to his comfort zone, with striking at close range and a lot of clinch play. In the third part, the scenario was repeated with the aggravating factor that this time the North American still managed some falls and punished his rival in the ground and pound. At the end of the fight, Court mcgee was declared the winner in a unanimous decision by the judges.
